Pete Doherty Drug Replay

The broken record that is Pete Doherty's life just took another sad spin.

The Babyshambles frontman and professional train wreck was busted by London police on suspicion of drug possession for what seems like the umpteenth time.

The 28-year-old Doherty was taken into custody for suspected drug use at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, after the car he was riding in was pulled over by authorities in the city's Tower Hamlets district.

Another man and a woman in the vehicle were also taken into custody. The three were transported to an east London police station, where they were booked and remained behind bars as of Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred hours after the troubled rocker and his band had performed at the V Festival in central England.

The countdown is on to see if this is the arrest that finally sends Doherty to jail.

During an Aug. 7 appearance in a West London Magistrates Court, Doherty was upbraided by Judge Davinder Lachler, who said if the musician didn't clean up his act, he faced serious jail time.

The warning came a month after Kate Moss' ex pleaded guilty to a pair of drunken-driving charges and possession of crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine, stemming from a May 5 arrest.

Doherty has told a parade of judges he's focused on sobering up—even going so far as to have a device surgically implanted in his stomach to prevent opiates from entering his bloodstream. However, he delayed signing up for a court-approved detox program until last month and has regularly tested positive for illegal substances even with the implant.

But the British magistrates have so far refused to jail him, instead giving the former Libertines vocalist numerous second chances, usually in the form of fines and stints in rehab.

Now, he'll see how serious Lachlar's ultimatum was. Doherty is due before the judge for a status hearing Sept. 4.
